Breast Cancer Treatment & Surgical Options
Surgery is often the primary breast cancer treatment recommended for patients. The specific operation you undergo depends on the size and position of the cancer, as well as what is most suitable for your unique condition and lifestyle. As always, our doctors will walk you through the different options and recommend the best path forward for your breast cancer surgery.

Our surgical capabilities include:
- Excision biopsy of breast lumps or benign tumours
- Microdochectomy (duct excision) or total duct excision for abnormal nipple discharge/duct ectasia
- Hook wire or radioisotope-guided localisation (ROLL) and excision of non-palpable breast lesions and microcalcifications
- Drainage of multiloculated or extensive breast abscesses
- Nipple eversion for inverted nipples
- Surgical treatment for accessory breasts
- Surgical treatment for gynecomastia
- Wide excision of tumours (lumpectomy)
- Inframammary approach in excisions of large breast tumours
- Breast conservation with parenchymal displacement for remodelling (oncoplastic lumpectomy)
- Sentinel lymph node biopsy for early breast cancer
- Oncological axilla lymph node clearance for breast cancer
- Total mastectomy for locally advanced, multicentric, or inflammatory breast cancers
- Endoscopic (minimally invasive) nipple-sparing mastectomy, where appropriate, for selected patients
- Skin-sparing or nipple-sparing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction (in conjunction with our plastic surgeon)
- Oncoplastic techniques in excisions of breast cancers and large non-cancerous lumps
