Dr Tang is our Senior Consultant and Breast Surgeon who specialises in breast surgery. Prior to joining Solis, she was practicing in National University Hospital, where she is well versed in the care of benign and malignant breast conditions, and provides comprehensive and holistic care for her patients.
She obtained her BMedSci (Hons) and medical degree from the University of Nottingham (UK), and did her initial surgical training in the Trent Deanery in the United Kingdom.
Dr Tang subsequently moved to Singapore and completed her advanced specialist training in General Surgery at National University Hospital and obtained the Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK [FRCS (Edin)] in General Surgery. Having travelled to Korea and Japan to learn advanced surgical techniques on breast conservation and partial reconstruction, she helps her patients lead a fulfilling life and maintain their femininity through breast conservation surgery.
In 2012, Dr Tang was awarded the Best Oral Presentation on the topic of ‘Fertility among male cancer patients, a population-based study’ at the Asian Oncology Summit. She went on to win the NUHS Teaching Excellence Award in 2019, the NUS Medicine Fortitude Award in 2020 as well as the 5 and 10 years long service award at NUH. Dr Tang was also heavily involved in the teaching and training of medical students and junior doctors, and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at National University Singapore. She was the deputy undergraduate medical director at the National University of Singapore, where she coordinated teaching and attachments for medical students, and was associate programme director for the National Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) programme at NUH, providing supervision, training and pastoral support to new junior doctors in NUH.
With a clinical and research interest in the subspecialty of breast surgery, treating breast cancer and the quality of life in breast cancer survivors, Dr Tang has published various clinical and research articles in peer-reviewed international journals. In 2015, she was successful in obtaining a research grant by the NCIS Centre Seed Funding Program to evaluate the Quality of Life and Body lmage in Women with Breast Cancer in Singapore. This allowed her to better empathise and aid patients on their journey to recovery while maximising their quality of life. Dr Tang also has a research interest in breast cancer in older women, and how best to optimise their breast cancer treatment whilst taking into consideration their other chronic illnesses.
